So you want to get into FPV but don’t know where to start? Well let’s goooo!
SIM TIME - practice in a simulator first to learn the basics and gain some muscle memory. Save money and frustration in the long run. It’s necessary.
You're also gonna need a radio. I recommend the RadioMaster Pocket ($65).
(No you cannot use a video game controller. Yes you will be able to use the Pocket with real drones. Get the version with ELRS built-in)
After you practice in the sim and decide this is something you want to spend more time and money on you might want to think about upgrading your radio to something with bigger and higher quality gimbals, but it is not necessary.
Recommend kit to learn on a budget. It's durable, safe, cheap, fun, repairable, customizable, upgradable and cross compatible. Good for indoor and outdoor flying freestyle and race flight styles. Note, dvr footage will be very low quality, this is not for professional video production. This is being recommended as a fun tool kit to learn fpv.
The essentials:
BetaFPV Meteor75 ($110)
The Meteor75 comes with 2 batteries and a charger but you will want more batteries and a better charger.
Also, extra props!
Get flying for around $300!
Side note... I will happily build you a custom meteor75 or meteor75 pro for $200! Let me know the colors of frame, canopy, and prop combo. Custom meteor builds will come standard with betafpv parts such as f4 1s FC, m03 vtx, c03 camera, and 0802 19500kv or 1102 22,000kv motors unless otherwise mentioned. Send me an email and we can talk details! gerard@visionvortexmedia.com
Now you're gonna need to learn about Betaflight and ExpressLRS (ELRS).
