A message from @djiglobal DJI: “The U.S. Senate has released its version of the National Defense Authorization Act, and it does not currently include provisions that would impact your right to use DJI products in the U.S. market.
BUT FIRST - A THANK YOU
Thank you for making your voices heard in the past weeks by engaging with your Senators and Representatives to urge them to oppose any legislation that would restrict the safe and responsible use of your drones.
As we continue to do our part to defend your rights to use our products in the U.S. market, we want to keep you updated on the latest developments.
WHAT'S THE LATEST?
The Senate Armed Services Committee released its version of the 2025 National Defense Authorization
Act (FY25 NDAA) last week.
It does not currently include language that impacts DJI's operations in the U.S. - unlike the version of the
FY25 NDAA that passed in the House of Representatives last month.
SO IS IT OVER?
No! This is a positive step, but it is not yet over.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Senate FY25 NDAA will be scheduled for floor consideration soon, and there is still a chance that the Countering CCP Drones Act (CCCPDA) might get added as a floor amendment at that point.
The House and Senate versions of the FY25 NDAA will also be sent to a conference committee to reconcile their differences. Because the CCCPDA appears in the House version, even if it is not in the Senate version, the issue is not dead. Negotiators could still agree to include the CCCPDA in the final bill that gets sent to the President.
SO, WHAT CAN I DO?
The current Senate bill without CCCPDA is a positive development as it shows that your efforts and voices
can make a difference.
However, there are still ways for bills like the CCCPDA
to be incorporated to the FY25 NDAA or other legislative packages in the coming months.
Congress is in recess in August, which means your Senators & Representatives will be back home in your area. This is an opportune time for the U.S. drone community to continue sharing your stories.”
